How To Create YOUR Perfect Instagram Theme
We have all seen the Instagram accounts with perfectly planned posts that all seem to flow together effortlessly. Visual content is now arguably the most important aspect to digital marketing, yet many businesses reach out to us lost on where to begin when it comes to creating quality visual content. One of the most frequent concerns by businesses attempting to target a younger demographic is how to create the perfect “Instagram Theme” to entice individuals to follow them. That is why we have come up with four tips to help guide you to creating a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing Instagram theme.
If you are new to Instagram, the “theme” we are referring to is how your profile layout looks to viewers.
This view is your audience’s first impression of your Instagram account and what will determine whether they continue to look at your content or not. Therefore, having a cohesive and interesting Instagram Page that flows nicely is extremely important and here is how you can achieve it:
1. Invest in Your Visuals
One of the most influential technology advances when it comes to Social Media is the increased quality of images produced by cell phones. However, if you want your Instagram account to look like the professional accounts you look up to, quick snapshots from your iPhone aren’t enough! We recommend investing in photography to create high quality images.
That doesn’t mean it is impossible to create a nice Instagram account without a professional camera. If you are using your phone to create your visuals here are a few tips to help make sure your visuals impress:
– Shoot in Natural Light.
– Download a great editing App to touch up your photos (We love VSCO and Afterlight).
– If you are using filters on your images, stick to one or two to keep your photo colours looking consistent.
PRO TIP: Using VSCO as an editing app also provides you the opportunity to use it as a preview of your Instagram feed to determine how do edit and filter your images!
2. Create a Cohesive Visual Personality
Your Instagram feed can be viewed as your company’s overall branding. What do you want your theme to portray to your audience? Choose a few colours you want to be visible (For us we aim to have all bright images, while we have our turquoise, white, and grey appear in our feed frequently). Again, limiting the filters you use on images to one or two will help make your feed look cohesive.
3. Include Graphics and Video in Your Feed
Including graphics in your feed provides you with an opportunity to share information and use your brand colours. We love using Canva to create simple quotes and graphics to share on Instagram!
Video receives the most engagement of any visual content, and is therefore important to include in your feed. We sometimes mix graphics with video, and create GIF’s to share to our audience.
PRO TIP: Looking to add video in your feed but don’t have any specific videos in mind? Try creating Boomerangs or Time lapses of things you would normally photograph!
4. Stay Selective With What You Post
Having a consistent and quality Instagram involves being very selective with what you post. If a photo does not blend visually with your other posts, don’t post it!
PRO TIP: Have a photo that doesn’t flow with your feed but has an important business message? Instagram Stories are the perfect place to post it and allow your audience to still view the post for 24hrs!
5. Maintain a Balance
While we would all love a perfect Instagram feed where everything perfectly matches, sometimes that is not necessary. Every business has a primary goal and Instagram is only one of your many vessels for achieving that goal. Therefore, the time you invest into creating an Instagram presence should equal what you are getting out of it. For us at 365 Day Media group, it is incredibly important to post quality visuals that fit our brand and show our company personality, but our business will always come first. We make sure we post quality images that represent our brand, and we try to stick to consistent bright colours. Find the right balance for your company.
